Ajiliyaa’s DOR: Spreading Warmth with Dignity this Uttarayan
This Uttarayan marked the fifth year of Ajiliyaa’s DOR initiative. With continued public support, more than 5,000 clothing items and over 500 toys and stationery supplies were gathered, reflecting the scale and continuity of the effort.
कुछ दरवाज़े घर नहीं… दिल खोलते हैं.
Festivals are often associated with celebration and tradition, yet they also offer moments of reflection on collective responsibility and shared values.
During Makar Sankranti, Ajiliyaa witnessed this sentiment unfold through DOR. What began as a simple call for gently used clothes, toys, and books gradually evolved into a city wide effort shaped by participation and intent.
To ensure accessibility, donation points were established across Surat. Individuals from various walks of life contributed with care, leading to steadily filling collection boxes that reflected thoughtful involvement throughout the city.
The initiative expanded beyond fixed locations with the introduction of a specially designed DOR truck. As it moved through familiar streets, it transformed the drive into a visible and engaging experience, encouraging conversations and awareness along the way.
On 15th January, distribution took place through a mobile setup designed to prioritise choice and privacy. Neatly arranged displays and a dedicated changing area allowed individuals to select items that suited them, reinforcing respect and autonomy.
As the DOR truck continued its journey across Surat, it symbolised more than the distribution of essentials. It represented participation, continuity, and a shared sense of purpose.
At Ajiliyaa, DOR reflects a belief that meaningful initiatives are built on intention and consistency. This Uttarayan was not only observed, but shaped through collective effort.
